The graduate school individually assesses the eligibility of some applicants before accepting application fees and formal applications. The eligibility assessment period for these applicants is:

MEXT scholarship: Applicants with MEXT scholarship are exempt from payment of application fee, and they are required to submit "Certificate of MEXT Scholarship Student" at the time of their applications.

Time of Entrance

The intake period for the International Ph.D. Program in Economics is October, unlike most Japanese universities which traditionally commence in April. Those who wish to enroll in the Ph.D. program typically have a Master’s degree in Economics, or some related field. Typically, the student will finish it in three years.

Screening

Screening is done in two stages - document screening based on application materials, followed by an online interview. The Department of Economics plans to issue certificates of passing the entrance exams in January for October admission.
