2. Objectives

This program was established in October 2006 under an agreement with the Ministry of Finance and the National Development Planning Board of Indonesia (Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional:BAPPENAS) of the Indonesian Government. The program is designed for mid-career Indonesian government officials. The first year of the program is offered either at Gadjah Mada University or at the University of Indonesia, which are the partner universities on the Indonesian side. The second year is conducted at the Department of Economics in the Graduate School of International Social Sciences (GSISS) of Yokohama National University (YNU). The students who successfully complete the master’s programs in the two universities receive a Master’s Degree (Master of Arts in Economics) from YNU and a Master’s Degree from the partner university in Indonesia (in other words, this is a double degree program). The students trained under this program are expected to return to their posts in the Indonesian government to apply their acquired knowledge and skills towards improving public services in Indonesia.
