Degree Requirements

The Indonesia Linkage Master Program at YNU is run jointly (i) by the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia (FE-UI) and the Graduate School of International Social Sciences, Yokohama National University (GSISS-YNU) or (ii) by the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Gadjah Mada (FEB-UGM) and GSISS-YNU. The students who succeeded in fulfilling all requirements shall be awarded a Master of Science in Economics by the FE-UI or a Master of Science in Development Economics by the FEB-UGM and a Master of Arts in Economics by the GSISS-YNU.

The Program consists of two curricula: (a) curriculum of Master of Science in Economics offered by FE-UI or curriculum of Master of Science in Development Economics offered by the FEB- UGM, and (b) curriculum of the Master’s Program in the GSISS-YNU. FE- UI and FEB - UGM shall guide students regarding courses and credits to be taken in the first year and the GSISS-YNU shall take care of the second year.

Students are required to complete a master’s thesis based on an original research topic. The Academic Supervisory Committee of GSISS-YNU makes judgment on the final defense for the completion of the thesis.

In addition, students are required to obtain at least 32 YNU credits to complete the YNU program. FE- UI or FEB- UGM students need to take 10 credits altogether in the second year at the GSISS-YNU: 6 credits from the coursework and 4 credits from seminars offered in the fall and spring semesters. According to the Technical and Academic Agreement (TAA) between FE- UI and GSISS-YNU, the 23 credits taken in the first year at the FE-UI are recognized as 22 YNU credits at the GSISS-YNU. According to the Technical and Academic Agreement (TAA) between FEB- UGM and GSISS-YNU, the 33 credits taken in the first year at the FEB-UGM are recognized as 22 YNU credits at the GSISS-YNU.
